big⋅game⋅fishing noun \bĭg' gām' ˈfi-shiŋ\
Big-game fishing, often referred to as offshore sportfishing, offshore gamefishing, or blue-water fishing is a form of recreational fishing, targeting large fish renowned for their sporting qualities, such as tuna and marlin.
That is what we do, and we do it with success.
We offer the best opportunity of catching big game fish in the Canary Islands, and whether you are a novice or an expert, you will enjoy your time fishing with us. Docked in the exclusive Puerto Calero Marina on Lanzarote, the Tono is located only minutes from the heart of the big game fishing action. Aboard our thirty-eight foot long vessel, our crew leads visitors to unrivaled fishing for blue marlin, tuna, wahoo, shark, and more. Luxury accommodations are available overlooking the marina.
Fishing Reports and Important Information
9-1-2011 The New Year Begins With Lots Of Amberjack
During the month of December and up to this point in January, we've been enjoying almost consistent daily success in fishing for amberjack, as well as Atlantic bonito, which have typically been located in the same area. There are still a lot of baitfish around, including salt herring and large mackerel sardines, which amberjack find irresistible.
We caught several amberjack during the first week of the new year, some of which weighed around 30 kg. On Friday, we managed to catch three amberjack, one of which weighed approximately 40 kg, and the other two weighing in at around 30 kg each. The latter two just so happed to be hooked simultaneously, and despite the difficulty, we managed to bring the two aboard. This past Saturday saw one of our guests land a 53 kg amberjack.
As of this date, we still have plenty of availability during marlin season, especially during the months of September and October, as well as for the fishing tournaments during late summer. With construction completed on the Puerto del Carmen marina this year, we will be again be participating in its tournament in October. We will have more information regarding this tournament in the coming months, but keep in mind that it was the Tono that won this tournament in 2002.
