Location
Of the seven major Canary Islands, Lanzarote is the easternmost, and lies in the Atlantic Ocean only some 100 km (60 miles) from the coast of Africa and 1,000 km from the Iberian Peninsula. The beautiful harbor side community of Puerto Calero is located on the southwestern shore of Lanzarote, approximately a ten minute drive from the airport at Arrecife, and a five minute drive from the main tourist area of Puerto del Carmen. Puerto Calero boasts one of the most modern marinas, with five star hotels, exquisite dining, shopping right on the premises, and is widely known as one of the more exclusive areas on Lazarote.
Puerto Calero is arguably the best location in all of the Canaries for a sport fishing holiday. What makes Puerto Calero such a sport fishing paradise is its remarkably close location to the actual fishing grounds. Imagine hooking into a blue marlin less than a quarter of a mile (approximately 400 meters) from the dock. This makes for more time fishing and less time traveling.
There are many activities easily within reach. Nearby, there are world class beaches, scuba diving, horseback riding, a golf course, and many other outdoor activities. If you don't feel like leaving the marina, relax with one of the many Tapas bars and watch the luxury yachts coming in and out of the marina.
