   Bazil:

I am not fishing as much this year as last year. Not am I catching as many muskies. However, I have seen more big fish than ever this year...but they have not been biting. That said, I did land a 52" muskie on this past Wednesday. I raised it on a Black Crappie colored Crane Bait and finally got it to hit on a Fin-S Minnow (soft plastic)twitched slowly. I dragged it out with the trolling motor and then landed it in my net. I did a quick meaurement and then decided to take a picture. I kept the net in the water with the fish and while trying to get my camera ready, the fish started thrashing aroung. I looked over the edge at the muskie and she had torn a hole through the net and had 1/3 of her body throught the hole. This was a really dangerous situation for the fish. They can get almost all their slime raked off and also get pretty cut up. It was no choice. I quickly cut the net away from her and let her swim off. No apparent damaged done. I would have felt bad if it had been by first fish of that size and no picture. But I have pictures of big fish that size and one more won't make any difference. Who knows? I may catch her again before the season is over. Most of the big fish I am seeing are on the rocks near weeds. Everything is late this year. The rest of this month and Sept. shoudl be really good. I hope so. Other than that 52", the biggest fish this year has only been a 46". Quite a few in that mi-40" class, but not the numbers of last year. I think the low water last year really concentrated the fish on the rocks. Hope springs eternal! Maybe there will be a late summer early fall rally. Good Luck!
