The OPP told me that this is the 4th drowning this year in the district and all were in tiller boats, none in boats with steering wheels. There are inherent dangers in tiller operated boats. Please, everyone, be careful out there. Use the kill switch and wear life jackets, especially if you are a poor swimmer. I will pass on additional information as I learn of it.

Nobody can be sure of what happened. A good friend (a long time guest of both ours and Hanson's) spoke with Devin's family and all they could tell him was that Devin was heading in to Nestor Falls to pick up a friend to do some fishing. At this point, I think speculation is counter productive. Remember to be careful out there everyone.

Wondering if you are the same Bob that acted as a facilitator for the fisherman that witnessed the accident. We heard the pleas for help on our marine radio and monitored the events throughout the day. You did an absolutely tremendous job of guiding those fisherman through a very difficult process. You were compassionate and professional as you dealt with the situation over public airwaves. It was eerie to hear the events first hand and definitely dampened the spirits of all of us even though we did not know Devin or his family personally. Its tragic that a life be taken so young and sad that we need a reminder like this to be careful no matter how well we think we know the lake.
