"Turtle Portage Problems"

The portage got FUBAR'd on the weekend (Saturday, August 14 in the afternoon sometime.) Had a guest go over the portage in a camp boat to spend the day with his brother in law in whitefish and wasn;t able to return Sunday.

Sounds like a chain broke and it's a major problem. No word from MNR on possible repairs yet.

Anyone with more information (accurate please, no rumors) is welcome to chime in.

I'll be contacting the MNR again this week, as I did in the spring, to get something official from them.

I will post when I have more info.

According to a couple that stayed with us and fished the Morson Bass Tournament on the weekend, the portage has been repaired and is working a little better than it did before.

I haven't heard from anyone else.

The couple came from Sioux Narrows and they have a pretty big crestliner with a 200 HP outboard. It was a guy and his wife and they didn't have much trouble cranking their boat over.

I must say I'm surprised they got it fixed so fast this late in the season.
