Hey Bazil, Been a long Winter for an old Muskie chaser like yourself, I bet. I can tell you what we do on Rowan for ice out Laker fishing and what I will be doing on Crow in two weeks for the Lakers. Troll the shorelines with steep drops in 15' to 40' with crankbaits. We just got back yesterday and we did really well with this method. I hear that a lot of the locals will bottom fish from islands with Ciscos. Bell Island in Whitefish is one that I've heard of. I just can't get myself to fish from a lake shore while I still have a boat to finish paying for though. Some colors of cranks work really well and many do not work at all. Email me and I will fill you in with more detail on the hot colors. |

We normally use two methods. One fishing ciscoes from shore. Works real well and you can get some great trout. The other is drifting and vertically jigging with white jigs, tube jigs or sonars. |
