49 inch muskie - Oct 20, 2006
44.5" muskie - Oct 20, 2006
Dave, Jenny and Hannah had a great
time trolling over the weekend of
Oct 20. Here are a couple of the nicer fish from that trip.
It's a
good thing the girls got cold a couple times so Dave could go out on
his own
and catch a few fish. Apparantly, the muskies were after the
girls' baits most of the time. It must have been that rainbow
trout pattern. Right, Hannah?
After Captain Rich ended up solo the
last afternoon of his fall trip with the buddies (many nice photos from
that trip will be posted shortly), I took the opportunity to fish with
him after spending part of the morning out with my buddy (Dan) and not
having any luck. It turned out to be a wise decision as we ended
up with a 4 muskie day. If I rememeber the timeline correctly,
Rich got the first and last muskies of the day, while Dan and I filled
up the middle portion. It was great fun to get out with a great
fisherman like Rich. I hope to do it more in years to come.

We thought we had a pretty good afternoon until the Beaulieu boat came
in lagging behind everyone esle. They put 6 in the boat,
including 3 over 40 inches. Randy let daughter Aimee and future
son-in-law Greg handle all the fish catching for the weekend. Oct
21, 2006 was a obviously a good day to be trolling for muskies.

These 3 fish, plus a couple small ones wouldn't have made us feel quite
so inferior if Greg hadn't pulled in this hawg too to long before it
was time to come in:
Here are several shots of Greg's giant muskie. The biggest out of
Mylie's in 2006. Congrats on the fish of a lifetime, Greg.

This fish ties for the longest release from Mylie's that we can
remember, but is thicker by a couple inches so could be the biggest
fish caught and released out of the resort.
I had the
privilege of
having Mark Johnson in my boat a few times this fall. Here he is
with a very nice fall muskie.

This muskie measured
48" x 20"
and weighed
27.5 pounds
(weighed in cradle with digital scale) -
October 23, 2006.
A few memebers of the Drees Party
came
up for their first crack at fall muskie trolling the week of October
21-27 and someone seemed to get the hang of it. Jim Clark landed
5 muskies, including a 50 inch fish midweek.

50 incher,

The more release photos I see and
take, the more I enjoy them.
I'd love to pair every big fish photo with a shot of the release.
Let's work on that for next season everyone!
Jim and brother Joe also caught a few more muskies that week.

This was the prize catch out of my
boat for the fall trolling season. It's also the biggest fish
I've
been a part of landing in my boat and the second time I got to net a 50
inch class muskie. I netted Randy B's 51.5 incher last fall so
maybe
that's going to be my size limit for successful netting. HAHA I
had
forgotten my camera on that day so we were fortunate that Mark's
disposable camera developed a nice photo of this great
fish. The
weighing was done with a cradle and digital scale. The fish was
caught
with a 14 inch Jake crank bait.
Aimee B with a few more fish on the last weekend (October 28, 29) of
their LOTW fishing season for 2006. All muskies 40+ inches.
I will try to get Randy to give me exact sizes ASAP.

I ended the season having lost the
last 3 strikes I had. Saturday, November 4 was the last day I
fished. Dave W came up for the day and we made a good impression
of an ice breaker on the way out in the morning. Some of the
narrow areas of the lake had frozen over. We managed 1 northern
and one lost fish that we didnt get a look at despite seeing more
baitfish that day than I had seen any other day during the fall
season. Water temps ranged from 33 to 37 degrees. More
photos may trickle in, but I think I've received most of what will be
made available to me. Thanks for visiting the picture pages again
in 2006.
