July 2007 Fish Pictures - Mylie's Place Resort

Fishing action on Lake of the Woods has been great again in 2007.  Here is some photo evidence from July.  Click the photos to enlarge.

The Drees Group came and went again during the end of June and first week of July.  The boys saw lots of fish, but it appears only one or two boats actually put some in the net!  The photos are in no particular order.

 Jason got 4 muskies one day including his biggest for the week that went 44 inches.  I think some other members of the Drees Group caught a fish or two, but I can't really remember!


Tim caught and released his nice 18" smallie while casting for muskies during the Drees Group's outing as well.

28" walleye released - July 4th, 2007
A personal best walleye for Mike comes from Lake of the Woods while stopped for shore lunch over the holiday weekend.  Landed from shore on an ultra light.  Very cool!

40 inches - July 5, 2007
Max's second 40 inch muskie ties his personal best..  At 10 years old, it looks like he has a fine muskie fishing career ahead of him.  At this rate, he may pop a 50 before his Dad!

Randy B snuck up for a quick weekend after the 4th of July and caught a few more muskies in the 40 inch class.

This brute was Randy's first ever 50" class fish caught casting on Lake of the Woods.  Congrats to my muskie mentor on 17 years of hard work finally paying off.

Jeremy's walleyes were released.  Mackena's was a keeper that helped make a good dinner!

Wayne waited about 15 years to get his first huge Lake of the Woods muskie.  His dream was to catch a legal muskie on LOW and like most good conservation muskie anglers, he hadnt paid much attention to the legal minimum being raised 5 or 6 years ago because he never had any intent of keeping a big fish anyway.  He didnt let the news that he didnt get his legal LOW muskie yet dampen a great start to his week. Catching and releasing a fish as big as his daughter Claire was more than enough to make up for the missed legal minimum.  Great work on the camera by wife Deb.  Congrats, WW.

Kevin King

This wasn't just any 36 inch northern caught at dark.  Click the photo to enleage and you will see Kevin holding his fly rod in one hand and the fish in the other.  Not too many people bring fly rods up to Lake of the Woods, never mind actually catching a nice fish on one.  Good job, Kevin.


Dennie Hardie's annual 2 week trip to Mylie's each July  was successful as usual.  Here are just a few of the nice walleyes that were caught and released by Dennie and family.



The Hardie's caught 26 walleyes over 20.5 inches during their trip, as well as 3 that were 26 inches and above.  Only 4 of the big 4 were kept and the biggest of those was 22 inches.  That's great fishing and excellent conservation minded angling.  The above muskie measured 42 inches and was caught jigging for walleyes.  Dennie seems to snag a muskie every year while fishing for walleyes.

52 inches - July 22, 2007
Congrats to Lois on her personal best muskie.  This fish represents the first half of the $50 gift certificate to Moore's Lures for largest released muskie in 2007.  To see why the award is split this year, see near the bottom of this page.

The Widmer Party made their first summer trip to LOW after a couple of September outings in previous years.  I think they will be trying to July again next summer!

Father and son Holt with two nice July walleyes.  Capt Denny Holt provided the guide service.  Sorry about snagging that muskie Chris.  We'll try to get you one again next year.

I was very excited to get the opportunity to fish with Len R again this year.  Len R and Len M joined me for a day in my boat and we caught 4 fish total.  The size left something ot be desired, but I was able to record my first ever 2 fish day while casting.  Thanks Len and Len.  I hope we can do it again next year.

Here is Len R with the big fish the day for July 29, 2007.  It measured 39 inchers and was the start of a 3 fish in 45 minute feeding frenzy.  Also a nice release shot.

Dick Stelter

52 incher - July 29, 2007
Another big fish for Mr Stelter.  This hawg earned him half of the Moores Lures gift certificate for largest release muskie of 2007.  I'm still working on Dick to take the "scoop shovel" pose out of his repatoire.  Maybe before I leave the resort business, I'll get a photo on the website of him holding a fish another way. HAHA
