Walleye Opening Weekend 2008
The Hanson Party (MN) had another great week of fishing during the
annual opening week trip. Here is a limit of walleyes from their
first full day on the lake. Newcomer Tom (right) landed a nice
25" walleye on his first full day of fishing LOTW. They had great
fishing all week long. Both to the east and to the west.

43" Northern; RELEASED
Rich with another northern in the 40 inch class. I've lost count
of how many he has caught over the years. This fish is a an
absolute hawg.

Kevin is the largest walleye release leader through May.

Weekend of May 30, 2008
One avid muskie fisherman and 3 Lake
of the Woods rookies. Doesn't sound like a recipe for a
successful walleye trip does it? However, Mike Laird and his
group had a great weekend of fishing LOW. Along with Jason, Mark
and "Super Rookie" Charlie, the walleyes and smallmouth bass were
harrassed all weekend long. Young Charlie even nailed a 16 inch
super slab crappie that is going on the wall to make a great
trophy. Thanks to Mike and the guys for allowing me to post some
of their photos. I wanted to show a variety of them to prove that
a fish doesn't have to be a giant to make a great picture.
Overall, there were 2 personal best walleyes and that huge
crappie. Chalk up a couple more PB's for LOTW. The
larger fish were released. The biggest of the weekend was a 25"
walleye.
