What does Mylie's Place have to offer?? Find out some general information on the resort and some of the activities available when you vacation in Canada on beautiful Lake of the Woods . Where are we? Click the map link for a general idea of where Morson is located. We're only about 40 miles north of the border at Baudette, MN. Turn left onto Vauthey Road off of HWY 621, just past Morson. For other common questions, visit the Frequently Asked Questions page.
The Morson Advantage
Do you fish Miles Bay, Obakikon Lake, Dawson Island, Hay Island? Why stay in Nestor Falls and spend half your
day running at full throttle? We are 6-10 miles from these hot spots. How about the Basil Channel, Stevens Bay and/or Stoney Portage for muskies? We're right in the centre of all the best muskie action on the south end of Lake of the Woods. This is what the guides and
lodges in Nestor hope you don't find out. Try staying in Morson, where you can FISH MORE AND PAY LESS!
WHY GO FURTHER??
Lake of the Woods is truly an awesome fishery and should be considered an even more desirable destination with the high gas
prices. The Morson area has everything you need. Including the brand new 9 hole Spruce Creek Golf Course for those of you wanting to take a day off the
water during your trips. You do not have to drive hundreds of miles further north to get great fishing and a secluded feeling.
The size of this water will let you feel like you are the only one on the lake at times and you will have a chance at trophy class fish
in several species. Talk to your groups and consider trying a LOTW trip. We're 40 miles from the border at Baudette and you can be fishing within an hour
of crossing the border. Burn that gas in your boat instead of your towing rig. Email or call for availability for the rest of 2008 as well as 2009. It's a great
opportunity to reserve some prime fishing dates on Lake of the Woods for years to come.
Road Work Completed on HWY 621
The roadwork for HWY 621 has been wrapped up and most of the loose gravel has worked it's way into the new surface so HWY 621 should be your route up to Morson again. Remember to watch for deer, even during the daylight hours!
September 25, 2008 - Fall Fishing is Fun!
After a colder than normal spring and summer, the fall temps are holding their own and keeping the water temps over 60 degrees well into late September. That has seen
the crappies a little scattered so far, but anglers have been using patience and versatility to get their crappies. OB has seen better action, but a lower size in general to date. I believe the
best crappie fishing of the year is yet to come. Walleyes have been easier to track down and most groups searching for them have done well. Typical fall structure of points, shorelines, current areas near deeper water
have been the ticket. Muskie action has been average or above for the month of September. Another 48" fish was taken in the early part of the month and several big fish were spotted. Fish have been on both rock and weed structure this month according to the people out there casting.
Northerns continue to be active and have been hitting all sorts of baits, mostly in the shallows. Smallies have been jigged up on the reefs with minnows. Many pictures of the August & September action are in the pipe waiting to be posted
so I will try to get that all done in the next week. There are still some openings for October if anyone wants to make a run to Lake of the Woods for late season colour watching and fish catching.
2009 Reservations
Availability for 2009 will be posted soon as well. You may want to check your schedules if you haven't made a reservation yet. July is getting quite full, but there are
still a few prime dates available. You may want to click "refresh" or "reload" on your web browsers when you review available dates on the webpage.
Sometimes the web browswer will keep the last version viewed in your chache to allow for faster loading.
Mylie Gaudry passed away peacefully on November 25, 2007 as a result of complications from a fall in his room at the long-term care ward of the Rainy River Hospital. Grandpa had been living in the long-term ward for the past 2.5 years. He was very happy in his surroundings after having to leave his home on Lake of the Woods. He was very fond of all the staff at Rainy River Hospital and our family is very thankful for the wonderful care they provided for him during his time there. Please click on the Funeral Service Information Page to get details regarding the service and address information for cards of condolence.
Heartfelt Thanks Cards of condolence continue to arrive, along with notes via email as well. Our family truly appreciates everyone's thoughts and prayers. During his time at the resort, Grandpa touched a lot of people. We're getting just a small idea of the power we have to give people good memories of time with family and friends. We have always taken the responsibility seriously and hope we can leave our guests with some of the same great memories that Grandpa did over the years. We want to wish everyone in our "Mylie's Place" family a safe and happy holiday season. We look forward to being in touch when it's newsletter time.
Fishing Report
For a monthly type fishing report provided by one of our resident "experts", Dick Moore, with types of
structures and areas to fish as well as what lures may work best when looking for the hottest
action. Check out Fishin' with Dick to see his reports on fishing patterns
this season and compare them to last year.
Email: I've gotten a couple of calls saying someone sent an email and didn't hear anything back. I check my email daily unless it's impossible for me to get to a computer. If you send an email with a question about something having to do with the resort and you don't hear back within a couple days, please try again because it means the email probably didn't get to me, or my response didn't make it to you.
Dock Bumpers in 2005
The addition of dock bumpers was a big hit in 2005. You can view the bumpers and how they'll look
on our docks by clicking on the Dock Bumpers Page.
New Picture Page
I've started a page for people that are in the "50 inch Club" for Mylie's Place. These are guests or
customers that have caught a 50" or better fish while fishing on Lake of the Woods. Check out the
50" Club to see what you can hook into on LOW.
Discussion Board
Go and check out the growing group of posters on the LOW Message Board. There are some great fisherman
that watch the board and are often more than happy to help out with whatever questions you may have. You can read
and post without having to register. You can also register if you'd like to take advantage of more options on the board. Let's try and
make this a success, everyone. I know there is a lot of people
out there that LOVE to talk fishing. Click on the LOW Discussion Board Link
to check it out. Email your fishing buddies with the link so they can put their nickels worth of wisdom in there too.

PICTURE, PICTURES, PICTURES
There were some great looking fish caught over the years we have been lucky enough to
get pictures of many of them. All of our fish picture pages can be accessed from the Main Picture Page.
Thanks to everyone for allowing us to put their photo's on the website and helping us
prove that not ALL fisherman and resort operators are liars!!
If you have any pictures of nice fish from any of your past trips and would like to send them to us, we would love to include them with our this years pages. We can also add them to a page showing some of the nicest fish caught in the years since we have run the camp. Already scanned pictures can be emailed to jwgaudry@hotmail.com and regular photographs can be sent to our mailing address for scanning. We'll be happy to return the pictures to you once they have been scanned. Musky, northern and bass pictures would be much appreciated. Please try to include the month and year that the fish was caught and whether it was kept or released. I know there are some pictures out there!!
